i'm not sure yet, but let me tell you, i agree... rent is too damn high.

also, as a karate expert, i will not talk about anyone up here, because our children cannot afford to live anywhere.

eyewriter.

Tony Quan, aka Tempt1, is an artist, activist and graffiti writer. In 2003 he was diagnosed with ALS, and over the last seven years he has lost the ability to move, speak or even breathe on his own. But his mind and creative spirit remained intact. So last year the Brooklyn born Graffiti Research Lab, a group who's founding members are either professors or graduates of Parsons the New School for Design, spearheaded the Eyewriter project. They teamed up with OpenFrameworks and Free Art and Technology communities to build low cost, open source software and hardware that would allow Tempt1 to paint again through the use of eye tracking. Similar technology has allowed the physicist Stephen Hawkings to speak using only his eyes.

YoGanesh.

So my friend Norma, who used to teach yoga at Bamboomoves, has been working hard on her own studio, YoGanesh, and tonight was the grand opening class/party. Andrew Tanner, who co-owned Bamboo when I first started there, gave a candlelit class, while Nahdi and crew provided the music and post practice kirtan. It was an intensely beautiful class with the most amazing collective energy... I very much recommend taking class there... it's easy to get to... on 7th Ave, between 23rd and 24th streets... For more information, check out the YoGanesh site. Also note, I designed the logo. xo
